PREFERRED CHARITIES

The Children’s Miracle Network is a nonprofit organization who fundraise money to benefit hospitalized kids. For over 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada they have raised $4.7 billion since 1983.

The money directly goes to purchasing new equipment, training staff, conducting research to benefit the cause, directing programs and providing health care for children whose parents can’t afford to pay.

Among children ages 14 and under, pediatric trauma remains the leading cause of death and injury. This is more than all of the known childhood diseases combined.
About 90% of those accidental injuries can be prevented.

March of Dimes was established by Franklin D. Roosevelt when fighting against polio. The goal of March of Dimes is to prevent health issues in babies. That includes birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

Kiwanis International and UNICEF have teamed up to ELIMINATE maternal and neonatal tetanus. This disease’s symptoms are agonizing – people go through repeated, painful convulsions and cannot be touched or exposed to light in anyway. Lastly, they die a couple days later after the disease has taken over their bodies.

To eliminate MNT, over 100 million mother and their babies must be immunized. This involves the use of vaccines, clean storage space, transportation, thousands of skilled staff and much more

Division 11 is located in Region 1 in East County and South Bay San Diego. Though we are in Region 1 with Division 31 Peacocks, we often participate with Region 2 under the name "Region 1.5"!
