MAJOR EVENTS

International Convention (ICON)

During ICON, Key Clubs from 38 countries come together to recognize club and district achievements, elect the 2020-2021 International Board, and finish off by hosting a night of dance! Before COVID-19, ICON was to be held in San Francisco for the year 2020. With the transition to an online event, Key Club held various seminars on various topics such as college, fundraising, international service opportunities, vision boards, and more!

District Convention (DCON)

DCON, or District Convention, serves as both the end and beginning of each Key Club annual term. The focus is to elect the new CNH District Executive Board, as well as for members and advisors or chaperones to attend workshops, participate in spirit rallies, and celebrate the hard work of the past year of service. Attendees also look forward to the Governor’s Ball and Advisor’s Ice Cream Social. In any given year, there are approximately 2,000-2,500 in attendance.

Fall Rally South (FRS)

Fall Rally South is one of our largest Key Club district event, held at Six Flags Magic Mountain. During FRS, Key Club celebrates all of the funds raised for the Pediatric Trauma Program with a divisional spirit rally! Here, you truly experience the Key Club spirit in motivational programs, meeting new people, and spirit battles. Lieutenant Governors and executive officers are “auctioned” off to divisions; the winning division is awarded a designated period of time with the “purchased” officers.

Region Training Conference (RTC)

Region Training Conference is organized by the Lieutenant Governor(s) in a Region or combined Regions. Division 11 is part of Region 1. Typically, our RTC is connected with Region 2, creating a Region 1.5 Training Conference. There are various Icebreakers to get to know members of clubs within the region(s) as well as informative workshops that are beneficial to all members. Past workshops have focused on scholarships, fundraising, fulfilling officer duties, Key Club 101, and more.

Officer Training Conference (OTC)

This annual event helps new and old Key Club officers gain essential leadership skills and training for the new term. Though this conference is strongly encouraged to officers, it is open to ALL Key Club members. There are various beneficial workshops about officer duties, preferred charities, working with teams, and other ways to become a better member of Key Club.

Rose Float Decorating

In preparation for the famous New Year’s Rose Float Parade, Key Club travels to Pasadena to help decorate the Kiwanis and many other floats. Most jobs include putting water tubes on flowers, cutting flower petals, transporting materials, and keeping the general area clean. This is a very fun service event you do not want to miss - dinner is provided! With the current COVID-19 situation, we hope to return to this event as soon as possible.

Conclave

This annual event is held by the current Lieutenant Governor of the division to elect the next Lieutenant Governor to represent the division on district board. Each dues paid club is allowed to register 2 delegates to vote for the candidate who they think will best serve the division. 50% of dues paid clubs within the division must be present to hold Conclave.

During this event, more than 250 Kiwanis members from 60 clubs in San Diego County gathered at Rady Children’s Hospital where community groups, students, hospital employees, and patients will design quarter art that is placed on red carpets in front of the Hospital. In 2010, this event helped raise over $100,00 for Rady Children’s with all funds going to support pediatric trauma. Participants are provided with a pancake breakfast and BBQ luncheon.
