The Kiwanis La Jolla Half Marathon & 5k was on Saturday, May 17th. Ms. Mooney took us to the Del Mar FairGrounds around 4:30 - 5 am where around 7 of us including our LTG Donald Nash (yay) were stationed to check in racers, make sure they knew which race they were going to, hand out racer bibs, and give out complimentary cups. The night before our group got an instructional video explaining how to use the app to check in racers and scan bibs which was super helpful! A lot of our work was done before the race started where we split up into two groups. One group kept checking in late racers while the other ventured off to make sure everyone had their water cups and answered any questions they had, whether that be where the water stations are, where to check in, etc. After all the racers took off, we helped clean up our station and Ms. Mooney even took us to Denny’s for breakfast which was super nice of her. Overall it was a blast to help out and next years will hopefully be just as if not better.
