As restrictions have eased, and life is slowly but surely returning to normal, we were fortunate to have the opportunity to do an in-person service project. Our service coordinators connected with the director at Mt. Helix park, so we could do a cleanup project. Safety was of the utmost importance to us, so we made sure to keep our distance, and wore masks and gloves to stay safe. For our service, we were asked to pull weeds and invasive plant species that were clogging up the trails at Mt. Helix. We spent a few hours trimming plants, pulling out weeds, and sorting the debris into trash bags. It was a hot afternoon, but all the Key clubbers we had participated were diligent in their work. I think that this service event proved that even in the midst of a pandemic, we can still come together to serve our community safely, and are able to uphold the Key Club morals. All in all, we had a successful return to in-person service events, and hope to continue work into the school year.
