Family House of Pancakes, otherwise known as FHOP holds a splashin’ place in our hearts. FHOP hugely impacts us due to the fact that in-person DCMs were held there. Due to COVID-19, many businesses are struggling; FHOP being one of them. As a way to show our appreciation and lighten up a bit during these dear and crucial times, our Division as well as Kiwanis chose to do a mural service project. Participants were told to draw anything representing hope or community. Each piece had to be a square canvas and/or paper. Each participant could do 10 max. When finished participants would then send an email to Kayla and would receive back her address to either drop off or mail! There were also two meeting sessions held as a way to unwind, communicate and bounce ideas off one another. It was quite relaxing as music was being played and at the end of each meeting we’d showcase our art to take a picture. Razylin Avendano, a SUHi Key Club member, shared her experience and said, “The service project was a really great way for me to relax and set my mind on something else other than school! It was nice to listen to music and draw/color the designs while doing something for the community!” :) As for SUHi Key Club, members dropped off their art to Raffi, our President and Jennelyn, our Historian picked them up and dropped them all off to Kayla! A total of 22 participated from SUHi and an outstanding 101 hours and 30 minutes earned. In the end, there was an accumulation of over 50 total artworks from SUHi. This service project was such a lovely way to give back and make use of our current situation.
